Should I Buy 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide?
There is a lot of confusion surrounding 35 percent food grade hydrogen peroxide these days. First and foremost hydrogen peroxide comes in many different grades and serve many different purposes. It’s more about choosing the best product for the application you are using it for.
The 35% Food Grade Peroxide you’ve heard of was specifically designed to disinfect food. Many people confuse the language of the product and think because it’s food grade it is safe to consume. This is NOT true. The high concentrations many peroxides come in from the manufacture are extremely powerful and will cause damage to your body. Food grade peroxide is no different. At 35% strength, this is more then 10x as strong as store bought hydrogen peroxide. Just like any peroxide at this potency, you should not consume any amount. Peroxide is an oxidizer and kills organic materials rapidly and you are no exception. You are organic!

How to use Hydrogen Peroxide in your Hot Tub or Swimming Pool
Chlorine has been getting a bad reputation over the years. It has been the gold standard in water sanitation for pools and hot tubs for decades. The use of hydrogen peroxide in swimming pools and hot tubs has been growing in popularity and many people now prefer hydrogen peroxide over chlorine.
For both swimming pools and hot tub usage, you want to keep your hydrogen peroxide levels around 30 to 100 PPM (parts per million). Depending on the size of your hot tub or swimming pool you’ll need to add the appropriate amount. You need around 1 cup of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide per 500 gallons of water. You can test the peroxide levels by using test strips.
How do I dilute my hydrogen peroxide?
Firstly you can order many different concentrations of peroxide on this site. We sell Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide and Technical Grade Hydrogen peroxide in 3%, 6%, 10%, 20% and 34% Strengths. However if you want a different solution or if you want to save money and buy high strength hydrogen peroxide and dilute it down, here are the proper steps.
Diluting 35 Percent Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide to a 3% Solution
These instruction will be for making 1 gallon of a 3% solution from 1 gallon of 35%
- One Gallon of 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
- Glass Measuring Cup (do not use regular plastic. If you are using plastic make sure it is HDPE.)
- HDPE Plastic Funnel
- Empty One Gallon HDPE Plastic Container or One Gallon Glass Bottle.
- Pair of Nitrile Gloves
- One Gallon of Distilled Water
- Safety Glasses
- Nearby Water Supply for Safety
- Paper Towels
- Well Ventilated Room
- Put on Safety Glasses
- Put on Nitrile Gloves
- Make sure room is ventilated
- Using your measuring cup, fill the empty one gallon container with 117.03 fluid ounces of distilled water. (117 fl oz is close enough)
- After adding the distilled water add 10.97 (11) FL OZ of 35% hydrogen peroxide to the 117.03 FL OZ of Distilled water.
That’s it, you’re done. Now seal up the container and store it in a cool dark place.
