Dish and utensil cleaning: follow food-contact instructions
Check the dishware, cookware, and appliance care instructions and use a product labeled for the intended task. Follow the product’s washing and rinsing directions. Do not infer food-contact suitability from the words natural or food grade.
Do not mix cleaning products
Do not mix cleaning chemicals. Do not combine hydrogen peroxide with vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or other cleaning products. Do not apply it over another cleaner or its residue. Follow the product label and the material manufacturer’s care instructions rather than a homemade mixture.
Do not mix dishwashing liquid with peroxide or add peroxide to another cleaning product. Follow all food-contact rinsing requirements on the product label.
Keep hydrogen peroxide away from incompatible materials as directed by its label and safety data sheet.
Handling precautions
Hydrogen peroxide is not harmless. Avoid ingestion and contact with skin or eyes. Follow the product label and safety data sheet for handling, protective equipment, ventilation, storage, and first aid. Do not assume that dilution or ventilation makes a chemical mixture safe.
Keep cleaning products in their original labeled containers, secured away from children and pets. Follow the manufacturer’s storage directions. Do not ingest hydrogen peroxide.
Cleaning is not a disinfection claim
This article does not establish that a particular peroxide product disinfects, sanitizes, prevents illness, or is appropriate for food contact. Any such use requires the applicable product instructions and supporting evidence; an ingredient name or a study of another formulation is not enough.
